Pondering.

Should I invest my money into a new camera with more Megapixels and a longer/faster shooting capability?, or should I invest in a lighting setup and a few accessories for my camera. My K100D is an excellent camera but like my previous camera I've exploited it's full potential. I have the K20D in my mind, it'll set me back bout $1300 bucks but it has a 14mp sensor and has live view!, this is especially useful for strange angles which normally would be extremely hard to attain, the only thing I don't like about the camera is it's small 2.7 inch screen and the inability to extend out and swivel from the camera. Everybody these days either has a Nikon or Canon but no one really knows of Pentax, it has been in the business of cameras for over 50 years and had numerous appearances on tv and movies such as American Ganger and the upcoming horror/thriller movie called Shutter, I just love this company. Their ability to release cameras that are cheaper than it's equivalent rivals but don't skimp out on the features and quality, leaves little to be desired.

For the moment I'm getting tons of practice and with my single class every Tuesday, I'm actually learning a lot. But I wish to learn more!, I can't wait till I start my full time studies in the fall!. Currently I'm seeking out models, amateur and professional alike so I can better develop my portrait technique.  I get tons of support from my friends but many of them are shy, why?, I do not know.

I can't even stop talking about this but for the time being I'm pretty content with my life, even though I'm single and oh damn, wouldn't mind a companion these days. But I have my profession/hobby to keep me busy so it takes the sting off.  I and quite a few students from Mcgill University and facebook will be meeting up tomorrow to visit Graffiti land. I actually visited that place a while ago with a few friends of mine and I took quite a few successful shots in the process, the images are part of the "Switching Station" series.  It's not actually a fun land or anything of the sort but a set of abandoned buildings with, you guessed it, tons of graffiti!.  So I'm pretty psyched for that.  All in all, this is a good time ^_^.

k20d is one hell of a beast. 20fps!

Live View will give you lots of shutter lag but I must help a lot.

I tried the Lumix-L10 of a pro photographer and it rocks for concert over the crowd shooting. The af is a bit slower but it feels like playing with a Powershot S5is but with dSLR image quality :)

Yeah Pentax does rock. Yet I felt more confortable holding the grip of a Nikon thus I chose Nikon. I prioritise feeling over performance.

Yeah tell me bout it heh, I wanna sell my K100D and buy the K20D, just not sure what price I should ask for heh. I'm thinking ...450 with the standard lens. The thing I don't like bout the K100D is the 4 frame limit in burst mode for raw, I only shoot in raw so it's pretty essential for me to get continuous burst with raw. The problem with the K20D is the auto focus lock when using live view, not a big problem for me but still a problem nonetheless. I bought the K100D because it had sensor based stabilization and it's excellent price/performance ratio at the time. But now that I'm more advanced I realize it's truly a beginners DSLR, I need something more! lol. Whenever I see someone using a Pentax, which isn't often, I must talk to them lol. We're very few and spread far apart it seems.

So I read from your journals that you tests camera's by borrowing your friends heh, cool man :). Wish I had close friends I could borrow camera's from :P. I see that you are one with the camera, feeling over performance heh. Names Kyle btw, nice to meet ya :D

167 on amazon, pretty decent but I'd prefer one that swivels left and right :P. Any suggestions?. You seem more advanced than me hehe and most people I know so. Tell me :D.

I guess Live View is an "emergency" mean to shoot over the crowd or in tight spots. I'll never replace the feeling of the viewfinder.

Yeah. It's pretty cool to have friend that have different camera. It also helps to be a camera salesman at future shop. I get to play with them everyday.

I'd go with a new camera if i where you^^You said so yourself, you fully exploited it and getting yourself a better camera will defiantly help you learn more and make better shots, take you to the next level. But thats just me...Your friends are shy?Welcome to my world :evillaugh: No really, why do you think all of my shots are only of nature?True,i like plants and flowers. But i cant take portraits 'cause every one i know is shy and no mater what i say they just stand as if i'm taking a passport photo!
Good luck with that!

I just got my first SLR from my uncle, and it's a Pentax also! It's the Asahi K1000, so it's of older stock but I'm having loads of fun learning how to use it! It makes a very satisfying loud click when you push the shutter button.

Anyhow, good luck with your studies!
